Building Futures: Langstone Construction Group Sponsors Financial Education in South Wales
On Friday 17th May, we delivered three back-to-back Money Wise workshops at YGG Bronllwyn Primary School in South Wales. Over 100 enthusiastic pupils from Years 3, 5, and 6 joined us for conversations about money, choices, and how the world around them works.
What made the day especially exciting was the support—and physical presence—of our newest partner: Langstone Construction Group. This collaboration brings together a new region, a new school, a new business, and we hope… the start of something much bigger.
A Sponsor Who Stepped In and Showed Up
Langstone Construction didn’t just offer financial support. They got involved.
Rhea John, our contact at Langstone, came along to see the first two workshops in action. Her enthusiasm matched the pupils’—and she got to see, first-hand, how these sessions spark curiosity and confidence.
“The workshops were absolutely brilliant! Professionally delivered, informative and insightful. The pupils were engaged throughout the sessions and really got involved and had fun!”

It’s always a joy to welcome sponsors into the classroom. Not only does it show the impact of their support—it also helps connect the dots between industry and education in a meaningful way.
Why This School? Why Now?
Langstone are currently building a care home next door to the school. Rather than see the building site as a disruption, they saw a community opportunity.
By partnering with us, Langstone turned a potentially noisy neighbour into a positive force for social value. Their funding meant these workshops came at no cost to the school—something we’re hugely grateful for, and something we hope to replicate across more schools in South Wales.
Year 3 students were full of energy and wide-eyed curiosity. They hadn’t encountered many financial terms before—but they were eager to learn. One even knew about cheques, hinting at a household that still uses them!
We also had a moment of comic gold when a cheeky student asked if Paul’s wife was called Fiona. When asked why, he replied:
“Because you look like Shrek.”
Cue laughter all around (including Paul’s).
Year 6 pupils brought a more mature perspective. Oliver, in particular, impressed us by explaining the difference between debit and credit cards, adding that a credit card is “not an endless supply.” That level of clarity and understanding at his age is rare—and it tells us this work is paying off.
The headteacher later shared this lovely feedback:
“The Year 3 class had an amazing time at the money workshop! They were fully engaged as they learned about the importance of money, the differences between credit and debit cards, and how to make smart spending choices.
The interactive quiz and fun games were a big hit, keeping everyone excited and involved throughout the session.
The highlight of the day was when Paul handed out special badges—each student was absolutely over the moon to receive one! It was a fantastic learning experience that left the whole class buzzing with enthusiasm.”

The Beginning of Something Bigger
Our new financial terms bingo game was a hit, and we’re looking forward to developing more activities like it. But more than that—we’re excited by what this new partnership represents.
We want this to be the beginning of a long and meaningful relationship with Langstone Construction Group. Together, we can bring practical, engaging financial education to more children across South Wales.
So, thank you to Rhea, Langstone, and everyone at Bronllwyn for making the day so memorable.
