Full Circle: Returning to Twyning & Celebrating 1,000 Students

Some milestones are worth celebrating. This week, Make Sense of Pence hit a major one—we’ve now delivered Money Wise Workshops to over 1,000 students! And what better place to mark the occasion than Twyning Primary School in Gloucestershire, the very school where this journey began?

Twyning was home to our first-ever Money Wise Workshop back in early 2024. A lot has changed since then—the workshop has evolved, our discussions have deepened, and the number of young minds we’ve reached has grown significantly. But stepping back into Twyning felt like coming full circle, a reminder of how far we’ve come and an exciting look at what’s next.

Twyning Year 4!

How the Workshop Has Evolved

From that first session at Twyning, our workshop format has been refined, expanded, and shaped by feedback from students, teachers, and real-world conversations.

One of the biggest changes has been introducing decision-making into the ‘Needs vs. Wants’ discussion. It’s no longer just about identifying essential vs. luxury items—we now encourage students to think critically about the choices they make around money.

💡 Do you need a water bottle? Yes. But do you need a branded Stanley cup?

💡 Do you need food? Of course. But is a takeaway meal an essential expense, or is it a choice?

These discussions are shaping how children think about money—not just in the present, but in how they approach their future financial decisions.

Reaching 1,000 Students—And Counting

From a single school in Gloucestershire to delivering workshops across the region, hitting the 1,000-student milestone is something we’re incredibly proud of.

It’s proof that these conversations are needed. Proof that schools, teachers, and students are engaging with financial education in a meaningful way. And proof that we’re only just getting started.

🔹 1,000 students taught

🔹 Dozens of schools reached

🔹 Endless discussions about money, decisions, and the future

And as we look ahead to the next 1,000 students, we’re excited to see how the workshop will continue to develop—adapting to the ever-changing financial landscape and ensuring that more young people grow up financially confident and informed.

A Huge Thank You to Twyning

Returning to Twyning Primary School wasn’t just about delivering another workshop—it was about recognising the support and belief in the project that helped get us here. The staff, students, and wider Twyning community have been incredibly supportive from day one, and we’re so grateful for the role they played in helping Make Sense of Pence take off.

To Twyning Primary and every school that has welcomed us into their classrooms—thank you. Your engagement, feedback, and enthusiasm continue to drive this project forward.

The Journey Continues…

So, what’s next? The next 1,000 students. The next 100 workshops. The next big conversation about money.

As we keep growing, we’ll continue to refine, adapt, and improve—because the world of money is changing, and so should the way we teach it.

🎉 Here’s to 1,000 students… and the thousands more to come!
