Make Sense of Pence app: Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

The short version

The Make Sense of Pence app does not collect any personal information about you or your child. There are no accounts to make, nothing to sign up for, no adverts, no tracking and nothing to buy inside the app. Everything your child does in the app stays on your device.

Who we are

The Make Sense of Pence app is made by Your Guardian Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. You can contact us at support@makesenseofpence.co.uk.

What information the app collects

None. We do not ask for or collect a name, an email address, a date of birth, a location, photos, contacts or anything else that could identify you or your child.

What stays on the device

To remember a child’s progress, the app saves some things on the device it is installed on: coins, points (XP), badges, streaks, what Hootini is wearing, what has been bought, lessons finished and the settings you choose (sound, music, which tune plays and text size). This information is kept on the device only. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.

Coins are not real money

The coins in the app are pretend and can only be earned by playing and learning. They cannot be bought, and they cannot be turned into real money. There are no in-app purchases. The app is bought once, from the app store, and there is nothing more to pay after that.

The interest rate is for play

The savings account in the app’s bank pays interest at a rate that is much higher than a real savings account. It is set high for the game, so children can see saving grow while they play. It is not financial advice and it is not a guide to real interest rates.

Advertising, tracking and other companies

The app has no advertising. It has no analytics or tracking tools, and it does not include code from advertising or data companies. It works without an internet connection, and it does not send information over the internet.

The one link that leaves the app

The app has a “Get the books” button that opens our books on Amazon. It is behind a question for grown-ups, so a child cannot open it by accident. When it opens, you leave our app and Amazon’s own privacy policy applies to what you do there.

Buying the app

The Apple App Store and Google Play handle the purchase of the app. They have their own privacy policies for what they collect when you download or pay. We do not receive your name, email or payment details from them.

Children

The app is made for children and is designed to be safe for them. We do not knowingly collect any information from children, because the app does not collect information from anyone. Because nothing is collected, there are no accounts or personal details for a parent to review or ask us to delete.

Permissions

The app does not ask for access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, location or notifications.

Deleting the information

Because progress is stored only on the device, there is nothing held by us to delete. A grown-up can clear all progress at any time using “Reset all progress” in the Grown-ups’ area in Settings, or by deleting the app.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects privacy, we will update this page before it does, and the date at the top will change.
